PURPOSE AND FIELD OF APPLICATION

Cogeneration power plant a GTD D049 is designed for electric power and heat cogeneration.

The KGU is used in new and updated existing systems for electric power supply to industrial enterprises and for heat supply to municipal engineering installations (boiler plants); it considerably increases fuel utilization factor, thus reducing the fuel rate.

PROCESS FLOW DIAGRAM

Natural gas is supplied through the booster compressor to the combustion chamber KC of the gas turbine engine, which is used to drive the turbo-generator. Exhaust gas, being now a heat-transfer medium, goes from the GTU to the hot-water boiler, where heating system water is being heated, due to heat utilization.

Within maximum load periods, heat generation can be increased, owing to the use of the exhaust gas as an oxidant at additional fuel burning in the hot-water boiler.


GTU DESIGN FEATURES

In the GTU power unit, a high-parameter gas turbine engine D049 2,500 kW with a turbo-generator TK2.5-2 RU3 is used. For exhaust gas heat utilization a hot-water boiler PTVM-30 is used, which is widely employed for boiler plants. GTU mounted with a turbo-generator on the same frame in a noise-absorbing package is installed in a boiler plant without substantial design alterations and with no changes in the standard equipment arrangement.

The boiler may be operated with the deactivated GTU, if required. Installation of the GTU in the existing boiler plants will provide cogeneration of heat and electric energy, thus transforming installations in heat supply system into heating and power mini-plants.

Introduction of small-scale power industry technology will help to reduce fuel consumption in the process of heat production and will provide cheap electric energy generation, based on existing heat supply sources.
